One answer: LISTEN TO YOUR BODY!!!

Secondly, please fill in your profile so we'll know your goals.

There is a fine line there, everyone is different. What works very well for me in some cases does not for every one else. I personally when I am on a gaining program, like to work each muscle group only once. 7 days rest inbetween. Trying to loose fat or tone up, I increase to most parts to twice per week, spread out with about 4-5 days rest. These are just general. Your specific goals will vary, so the stimulus should vary with them. As Philia2 says, listen to your body!!

what do u mean by listening to my body tho. usually after i work out a body part, im sore the next and up to 3 days after. but would it be overtraining to work them out again after those 2-3 days?

Again, I can only reply to get in tune with your body. After you do this for a while, you will be able to tell your needed rest period. If say you try every 3rd day to train biceps, and you do this for a month or more with no results, and may even be getting weaker instead of stronger on curls, then it is too much. Now on the other hand, if you are getting stronger and growing, then that is optimal for you. Most of us drug free bodybuilders cannot do the type of routine you see the "pros" doing in the magazines. We cannot recover that fast without the added "bonuses" they use.
