I had open heart surgrey in 2003. How can I train the chest area to strenghten the cartalige in the breats bone . And rebuild the chest muscles?? Dan

If you have your doctor's clearance, start a weight training program - many good ones available here.

Weight training increases bone density, so it would seem to reason that your cartilage would get thicker/stronger perhaps (though i have never heard specifically of cartilage strengthening).

A balanced workout for your whole body, not just your chest muscles, would be the healthiest way to go.

For anyone who ever wants to chat about heart issues feel free to drop me a line.
I had open heart surgery at age 4. I'm 29 now (will be 30 VERY soon:big_smile:) And I got a pacemaker in 2002. Speaking of which I'd LOVE to enter a fitness competition one day - pacemaker and all - just to say I did it! :)

Anyhow - just wanted to open that one for anyone interested.
