I like to wake up and do cardio for 30min without eating breakfast, than I will have a shake at the gym and do my strength training. I heard that this is good to do, but I am not sure? Sometimes on the weekend I do that after I have woken up at 11:00A.M. Can someone please let me know?
Thank you

someone gave you bad advice. doing cardio on an empty stomach is not a good idea. you will burn the same amount of muscle, if not more, as you will burn calories. this is the last thing you want. eating something like oatmeal beforehand would benefit you greatly.

The best thing to do is to eat high glycemic foods about 30-60 minutes before you do cardio....so e.g. eat a banana or a bagel with coffee/tea...etc...then postworkout have a shake with 30-40g protein and double this amount(60-80) in simple carbs....

i agree with you for the most part, but if she's just doing cardio she should add some kind of fat to her shake like flax meal or flax oil instead of all the simple carbs, especially if she's trying to lose fat (not that i know what her goals are because she didn't say, nor did she fill out her profile.) i mix muscle milk with my protein for my post-cardio shake when i'm cutting and it works beautifully.
also, because of posts i've read by bb1 and asimmer, i have been under the impression that oatmeal with a protein source is a good pre-cardio meal. i have 1/2 cup oatmeal with 1 scoop of vanilla whey, a dash of cinnamon and 1/2 cup of strawberries about an hour before i run and i've been leaning out a lot.
anyway, just my .02.
