I quit working out about three months ago, and of course the unevitable happened, I lost alot of strength. I had been working out for about 8 months, and had achieved about a 225 lb bench press. As of now, I could probably only bench about 175. I am anxious to get back my nice physique, but how long will it take?

That depends rob - if it took you 8 months to BP 225lbs, I would think it would take you less time to get there this time, but as to telling you an exact amount of time that would be difficult for anyone to say.

Are you training regularly? Eating well? You mentioned you wished to get your physique back, I would suggest a regular workout schedule and good eating - and stick to it! You were doing well before now really stick it out and do it again - and aim for 240lb this time. you can do it as you already have done it :) Best of luck

I was in the same boat as you about a year ago it took me about 4-6 weeks to get my strength back with a good work out regime and diet. It won't take long.

Thanks for replies! I do eat pretty well, and I will be soon back up to my 5 day a week routine, as soon as I get conditioned. Good to hear that JE22, Ive heard about muscle memory, but I didn't know quite how long
When I was deployed in the desert, I had a friend who was weaker than me when we started workng out, but in a matter of a month, he was blowing up, and putting up about 275. He was telling me that it was easier for him because he had already been that strong. At the time, I thought yeah right this guy is on juice, but now I do believe it was muscle memory.

Sorry, I now see that I have posted in the wrong section lol.

I broke my wrist a couple years ago and had to get off lifting for an entire year. In 4 weeks I was back to where I had left off, and only two weeks after that I broke a bunch of personal records!

Muscle memory is an incredible thing.
