Andrew thanks for giving me this idea....I tried doing floor barbell presses off plates stacked on the floor....I stack 3 per side...and it works amazing....when I am done I just rest the weight on the plates and slide out.......my arms are at 90 degrees, so it works perfectly....I been sore for 3 days now...so just wanted to thank you for the suggestion.....

Thoose floor presses are a bear especially after you really start to tear up the elbows from grinding them into the mat. But they do work.

yea they are amazing....can't start describing how useful they are....I am not one to get away from momentum on my sets for bench....but floor presses force me to stop and then go....so they make me work harder...they killed me...on my arms day, I was doing 1/4 the reps for triceps it was rediculous....and that was 3 days after my bench....glad I found a way to do them without a power rack...

I have to use the floors because the worst point of my bench is about 3-4 inches off my chest lol I have been able to overcome that sticky spot with them.

same for me...I get stack at that point also...and then right before full extension...i have strengthened my triceps considerably but that 3-4 inch mark remained my weak point so this is tremendous...I look foolish doing it but oh well...I go to a sissy gym so it look weird to them...

I cant picture what you are doing here. How do you unrack the bar? Off the plates?

anytime menace lol
The plates are on the floor, and the barbell rests on the plates that are stacked up. You just push the weights off the plates do yoru reps, you get pooped or done, place it back there......and slid out. Cause you only need about 1/2 range motion.

timmstar you can do it off the power/pin rack....you just need to be able to have weight up enough to ahve your hands completely vertical at 90 degrees at their lowest point....you lift the weight off the rack or blocks/plates and do the set...once you are done, you rerack the weight on the power rack or just place it on blocks/plates and slide out....
I used 3 -45s per side...and it was just enough for me...I am forced to do it this way because my gym doesn't have a power rack...if you do then your job is even easier...
floor presses are great because they force you to work on your weak points...the 3-4 inches of your chest and the extension at the top...they eliminate momentum also forcing you to work harder....keep them nice and fluid....I have so far done them as my 2nd/last exercise....because I am a bit scared to go heavy on them...I have no1 to spot me...last time I did them for 11, 8, 4 reps as my 2nd exercise....they murdered my triceps...I'll try to do them more consistantly and maybe even try going heavy on them if I have soem1 to spot me...
I would not put them with speed movements...because it's for strength component...
