As you know I am trying to build a large amout of muscle mass. But yesterday and today I have cheated on my diet. And missed a work out day. How much can this happen or should it happen?

Give yourself one cheat meal a week. This is what I like to do, sort of like a gift for being good. The only thing you can do know is get back on track. You cant fret over the last two days. Move on.-------------- I skip faster than most people can run. |

It would be a much better idea to just have a cheat meal, not a cheat day. You could way overdo it in a whole day. But with just one meal your satisfy your cravings, yet you won't sabotage your nutritional goals.

oh ok thanks....
as for the day, well if you cheat all the day during oone day, and only one day at week, nothing with happends. YES it is true it is better just to have a cheat meal, althou there is people (like me) who dies to make their diets during the week and trust me a really free day with not only help your body to rest, but your mind too. Besides, lets say you are cutting, no problem at all that you cheat on that day all the day: you wont lose weight, but you wont gain anyweight neiter : it is only a day |

I think if you have no real goal(like a deadline day for a contest, etc.), it is really relative to your timeframe for reaching your desired goal. And your mindset. Some folks can cheat and go right back on their diet, others get a taste and start gradually going back to their old eating habits. So, analyze your goals time, your mentality, and go accordingly. I like the idea of 2 meals every 2 weeks when just a simple cut. I figure I eat 6 meals per day, that is 42 meals per week, in 2 weeks that is 84 meals. If I cheat on 2 of them, that is a pretty good percentage. :)-------------- If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.... bb1fit@freetrainers.com |

Let me tell you why I have cheated. My son was Just born and I had to eat nasty hospital food. Not much of it on my diet. And I haven't had a lot of extra time to make up my meals. Just the junk food. Starting tomorrow I will be back on my mass building diet. Thanks for all the help. You all ROCk

I like to think of them as "FREE DAYS" rather than cheat days...It is part of the whole plan...instead of cheating the plan...Mentally and physically the freeday/meal works to stop your body from thinking it is starving and mentally you get over your cravings and are ready for the strictness during the rest of the week...If you are planning for a show I am sure you are much more regimental in your eating....besides you just had a son! Celebrate a bit.... btw Congratulations!

I agree that calling them cheat days sounds negative. I personally call it a "meal off", but it´s the same idea.

As always BB1 hits it right on! It really depends on your fitness goal. If you are training for a show, I would suggest a "cheat MEAL", not so much a "cheat day". Mattawesome, seeing your circumstances(congrats by the way), they seem pretty extenuating. It must be really tough to train for a show and be a daddy to a new born at the same time. Good luck and remember, earn your cheat meal.

I Eat what i want when i want :P i eat normally no low fat stuff for me i find if i eat really good i tend to lose muscle so all i do now is eat and if i find im putting on fat % i work harder in the gym. By increasing my muscle size i also increase cals burned so i lose fat anyway :). Also by doing this i find i hit no plataue (cant spell that word). I don't tend to eat much junk food though.

well me theory is the human body wasn't made to diet all the time i bet you wouldnt see cavemen running around chasing goats or whateer they ate and killing them then saying im afraid im i cant eat this goat it has to many calories ill have brocolli instead or maybe a tasty piece of lettuce and ill just eat that from now on.

It's called eating healthy not a diet. your cavemen reference is ridiculous and I wont even touch that. You obviously need to use the search button below and do some reading before you start posting advice making comments because your not being helpful to the person who started this thread.:dumbbell:

Nice way of putting it Justin. I agree. Who cares about cavemen. All they had were goats anyway. Not all the junk we have to look out for in food today.-------------- If you can't hang with the big dogs, go your little ass home. |

I agree with the goals and setting a timeframe. Its very true you get off schedule and you do it once then you think oh yea that was okay but it can not always creep up on you...so set the pace and goals and then those occasionally days off will be fine. Good luck
