Hey there I'm new yay! I'm 19 and a college student, my freshman 15 is more like the freshman 20... so now I'm trying to get rid of it.

So here's my thing: I went from 116lbs to 136lbs in the first semester of college, it's horrid, I know. I figure, in high school I was a cheerleader, ran track, and played soccer. When I wasn't playing sports or at school was in chor or play rehersal, which left little time to eat. So now with all this free snacking time and lack of intense activity, weight gain was bound to happen. But now I want it to go away.

I've been taking ballet which really tone muscle, but doesn't do much for anything else. I am also working out at the gym for at least 45 minutes, 3 times a week, if not more. Also, I am trying to not snack all the time, and eat healthier foods then burgers and fries (typical college lunch).

So far... I've only lost 3 pounds, and no inches. Does anyone have any idea what might be happening? I checked with my doctor and got blood tests done, and I am also going off some of my medications that might be causing it, but are there any other ideas or suggestions? Does anyone have a simular problem? I think hearing I'm not the only one would make me feel better :)

Any way, sorry for the ramble, hello again! *blows kisses to all*

The only thing I can think of, is your diet.
You might want to try increasing your calories for 2 days then decreasing, for 3. This might help you getyour metabolism going. Cut out the bad fats and simple carbs.

Welcome to FT Erin! Are your meals at the same time everyday? If your body was accustomed to irregular meals and it is now getting meals at the same time everyday you may be storing it as fat. Follow Ivan's advice it will confuse your body and shake your metabolism. One thing to understand is your body adjusts to caloric intake in just a few days but sometimes needs to be shocked to cause a change. Drinking more water will dilute your digestive acids causing the food to pass quicker and with less digestion. And of course as you have already noted watch the excess fat intake and simple carbs. Simple carbs are fine if you are about to work-out or just worked out. If your snacks are high in salt cut them out and replace them with raw vegtebles and fruits. One thing I did while in college was to take a few plastic containers and zip lock bags to the dining hall. I would bag up some of the meal and eat it later. Good luck and I look forward to reading your results.
