this is a question relating to flat bench press

On Mondays I do a chest/tricep day. this time I wanted to perform my tricep lifts before my chest to give my triceps the extra shock I need. I had a great workout and really blasted my Triceps and I really had a great pump in the arms. I then went to Flat bench. I put on 115 which is warm up set that I can usually get 17 reps out of. but since I did triceps first I could only get 9.

Now I sometimes hear people saying how your triceps really dont come into play if you do bench right. Well I have good form on bench and it seemed to me the came into play.

Any opinions on this topic

Well anytime you do a pushing motion away from the chest your tris help out a lot. Just because you do not feel them working during the bench press does not me they are not being used. They are called a secondary muscle in that exercise. Just like in squats you are using the thighs, but you back helps hold the weight across your shoulders. If you do the bench right you should not really feel the tri working, but it is. That is why you usually do the big muscles first(chest, back, etc) and the smaller last(bi tri). Hope this helps!! Oh yeah doing the tri first was not a bad idea it will help get some growth going...
