What kind of cardio increase could one expect to get after say, only 1 week of hitting the cardio?? Normally a fat-burn heart rate under 75% max is done a few times per week.
If this increase is possible (albeit minimal increase) what would you suggest as the best methods to improve cardio the most with only 1 week to prepare?
The activity they would be preparing for would be hiking on a steep incline with a heavy pack or climbing stairs with the same pack for 15 min bursts at a time.
With only one week to train for a specific event, if I am understanding your correctly, I would have you do the treadmill on an incline with a weighted backpack, or climb stairs with a weighted backpack, simulate the situation as closely as possible. Be sure to rest and recover adequately before the event.
