What do you do when you reach the level that you need to go up on weight being lifted but the machine only goes up in 20 pound increments? Do I just increase reps in each set until I can manage the extra 20 pounds or should I do lower reps of the heavier weight until failure (even if it means only being able to complete 5-6 out of 20)?
As always, thanks in advance!

What reps do you use and what are your goals?

You can use reps of 4-6 for strength/muscle gains....Don't be afraid to use heavier weights with lower reps after a thorough warm up...just make sure your form stays good as well....

I use the reps/sets as outlined by my FT program. Most exercises go something like 20, 16, 14, 12 for a total of 4 sets.
My goal is to have a very low body fat and have a "ripped" appearance. If/when I meet these goals I may then try to add some mass but one goal at a time right?
Thanks

If your at a gym, they might have "add ons". I realy don't know what they are called, but they are made from rubber or steel and they are 5lbs, and 7.5lbs. The just sit on top of the stack.

Thanks for the input.
Unfortunately I am stuck training at home. I guess I could buy some small plates and figure out some way to set them on the weight stack.
