Currently i have a good lifting programme in place which works for me (training in the gym 6 days and then one day skills and drills). My question i guess is there any nutritional tips you guys can give me for fast strength gain?? also any tips on improving sprint times much appreciated cheers !

try posting in supplements and nutritional help, rather than the powerlifting forum. Sounds to me like you need to build your base for lifting rather than worrying about the small stuff like supplements (based on your weight and lifts). If you weigh 170 and are only benching 120 and squatting 220, then you need to concentrate on what will give you the greatest increase, which is lifting, as opposed to the small gains you may see from nutrition.

im sorta in the same position as him. are you saying nutrition isnt al that important right now or what

Nutrition is still very important, but you don't have to be as strict with it if you are preparing for football. Your main goals should be gains in strength and explosiveness, and maybe even some mass gain if you so desire. Make sure you get enough calories, protein, and carbs to fuel your workouts, but you don't have to nitpick with supplements etc., which I think was what wrestler was getting at.

Sunny, check out this website and training program by sprinter Tom Green. It includes lifting techniques, plyometrics, and running drills that can improve your sprint speed. It's pretty involved since the guy is a world class sprinter, but check it out and incorporate the elements that work for you:

Im not saying its not important, just that for a beginner lifter it is not the most important thing. People spend hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars on supplements when what they really need is intensity.

Take a protein shake , eat lots of protein, lots of vegetables (leafy green ones are great), a good amount of carbs. , eat a healthy balanced diet. Never starve yourself, always make sure you have food and energy in your system before you train, and drink lots of water. Hydration is very important. Potatoes and steak sure help me.

you don't need cardio.......for football......

Sports training is different from other aspects of training just for health.

For football you concenrtre on the basics....cleans, rows, dls, squats cleans , benching, jerks what have you. Point is to train to be a good footballplayer....not "lookgood" You don't have to be the biggest or the stongest on the field......if your faster than the "big" guys they can't tackle you.

You shoudl lift no more than 4, do skill training as your cardio. Running stairs, sprints, 40s, and other football drills. Theres no need for "cardio" the most you will have to run is 120yards........so you need to train, for that sprint.
