I read that if you confuse the same muscles with a mixture of excercises its great benefit. Instead of doing the same movement for 8 weeks or whatever length of ones program. Instead of a tbar row on every back daydo a seated cable row on one of the days. Hope I explained this correctly?

I started doing that maybe 6 months ago after reading it. It also makes it more enjoyable. For instance, when I do triceps I always do overhead extensions. Since I do three different tri exercises I might do French Presses and cable extensions, next time cables and kick backs, then kick backs and single hand extensions......

variety is the name of the game. your body is an extremely adaptable machine, and responds to stress very quickly. changing your regimen every few weeks, even slightly, will keep yoiur body guessing, and assist you in acheiving your goals that much quicker.

I train kind of instinctively. I have a base I use, but I feel free to vary it at any time. Even on as far as body parts go, if it is not a scheduled bicep day, but I feel I need bicep work, I will do them. I vary the exercises I do for each body part in much the same way. In the end, if something is working for you and you are making gains with it, don't go messing with something that isn't broke. When your gains stop with a particular workout/exercise, then change it. As Rev states, the body is a very efficient machine. It has the ability to adapt quickly.
