This is a good exercise to do on days you don't bench press or you can do them on bench days later on in the day. Get 2 mini bands and put them together through a high pulley. Do 100 reps 3 times a week. These will strengthen your triceps big time.

these are a great excercise to bring up lagging tricep development. If your triceps are what are holding your bench back, (which it usually is) I recommend trying this.

Go to www.jumpstretch.com to read about these bands and what they look like. Im not to sure about regular pushdowns with straight weight. From what I was told 2 mini's are best for this or 1 purple band.

I am not 100% sure about this timmstar. If you can do it with regular weight I would say maybe 50lbs or slighty over. Let me find out exactly from the guy I speak to and I will let you know in a few days. But try 50lbs for now, do 100 reps 3 times a week on non bench days. Gatormade might know more about this, he might be able to help.

Do exactly what you said but instead of resting 1 minute rest for only a few seconds and then keep going until you get 100 reps.

The only problem with using straight weight with light weight, is that you tend to move fast and build momentum with the weight. The bands add more resistance progressively as you extend your arm in order to apply the most weight at the bottom of the lock out. If you use a weight light enough to get 100 reps, than there is a good chance that you are going too fast to get the effect desired. Also, this isn't an excercise that is meant to be a part of your routine. Its meant as a recovery exercise. Its supposed to be enough to get the blood flowing to your triceps.

yes you build momentum with a weight but the resitance of a 50 pound weight or 50 pound band will always be there wouldnt it??? so on the first few reps u willalways be moving faster and having momenteum for both weights and bands... what kind of tempo are u meant to be using anyway??

You cant build momentum using bands. Theres no weight to gain momentum. In fact, as you go through a complete ROM, the resistance actually increases. That is the advantage to using bands.

As for tempo, I don't really pay attention to that. Never have. I don't even think I could if I wanted to for 100 repetitions. Too short of an attention span.

He's right as you push the bands to the fullest it gets extremly hard. I don't think straight weight is the answer. Get a set of mini bands. There great for a lot of exercises.
