Is 10 slices of 100% Whole Wheat a day too much even if it fits within my recommended carbohydrate intake for the day?
I'm not a big fan of plain potatoes, pasta or brown rice and cannot use most condiments/sauces due to severe health issues. Bread works well for my carb source but 10 slices just doesn't seem healthy. Would I be better off just eating less carbs?
Thanks in advance

So as long as it fits my recommended daily carb intake then no worries?
Thanks again

You need to diversify your carbs:laugh:

back to the situatuon at hand I would say that you should try get your carb intake from other sources. You need some good fubrous veggies in there too. But as for not liking brown rice and pasta and potatos I'm not exactly thrilled about eating those same foods every night but I do because of the goals I want to achieve. Your not going to like to eat or do a lot of things that it takes to reach your goals thats why it takes some dedication. Not saying your not dedicated I don't know that but if the taste is tolerable I would just eat it simple as that. As for 10 slices a day being healthy or not I would say it's not detrimaental to your health but I would guess eating 10 slices of bread a day would get pretty old really fast not to mention expensive.

I forgot 1 oats with some sugar free maple syrup are also good for the carbs. They will lower you cholesterol give you energy and keep your digestive track healthy.

Thanks for the valuable input!
I do indeed eat assorted veggies such as Broccoli, Green Beans, Peas, Corn, etc. however to reach the amount of carbs recommended by my FT program I have to cram the bread in.
I suppose I could tolerate the potatoes but the brown rice makes me want to regurgitate (it tastes to starchy). I tried it for a week but could not get over the feeling.
I freakin' love the bread so no worries about it getting old but I don't want to contiue this route if it is going to hinder my progress.
By the way Justin (or anyone who would like to reply),
I took your advice and have done the calorie counting for 9 days so far and at 1850 - 1950 calories a day I have maintained an even 177 pounds. Should I drop another 250 calories to restart the losing phase of my program.
I am anxiously awaiting my photo to be posted so I can get some input from members regarding my overall appearance. My family says I have lost touch with what I truly look like, but I swear everytime I look at myself I see a person who has a signifigant amount of fat left to lose.

At 6'0 and 177lbs. sounds pretty lean to me. I'm 5'10 and at about 190lbs with about 15% body fat, so your a full 2 inches taller and about 15lbs lighter. Have you had your bf measured beofore?

Since I can't seem to get a picture uploaded can you email me and I will send you the picture. I would appreciate your input and objective opinion!
As I said my family thinks I am crazy but I still think I am overweight.
Please email me at Luvthemtorts@yahoo.com and I will send you the photo.

10 slices of 100% whole wheat? Have you checked the ingredients for any of the following.....molasses, fructose/glucose? Hope it doesn't conatin those (unwanted calories).

It does contain fructose but according to my recommended daily intake (2300) I still end up only eating 1800 - 1900 of my daily amount so no problems as far as the calories go.
Believe me I EAT! Typical days include tuna, bread, chicken, ostrich, broccoli, peas, corn, tilapia and occasionally potatoes.
At 1800-1900 calories a day I am meeting the recommended amount of protein and usually meet my vitamin/mineral goals but without the massive quantity of bread I don't come anywhere near the recommended amount of carbs.

What about multi-grain wheat bread, ok Sara Lee Low Carb Multi-Grain Wheat bread to be exact. They are only 45 calories a slice instead of the usual 70, or 80. And i usually have between like 4-6 slices a day, and being that there are only 9 net carbs a serving i should be good right?

Low carb bread most definately isn't for me! I have a hard enough time getting close to the recommended amount of carbs and calories specified by my FT plan.

FWIW, I like Nature's Own 100% Wheat bread. It's got 10 g carbs, 3 of which are fiber (for a net of 7.) But it's still BREAD. It's not soy bread or protien bread or low carb bread. It still tastes like good ol' wheat bread. Might want to try it if it's available in your area.

I eat the Sara Lea Delightfull Whole Wheat bread, 45 cals per slice and its main ingredient is whole wheat. It taste good, better than regular bread in my opinion.
