Is it ok to only train each muscle group once a week? Because the trainer at the gym said that you need to train each muscle group at least twice a week to make lean gains. So I was training each muscle group twice a week as advised. But my weight training sessions would last over an hour and I would end up spending 2 hours in the gym.
So now I asked for a program where I only train each muscle group once a week.
My program
Tuesday: chest and Biceps
Machine bench press
Inclined dumbell Press
Flat Flyes
Crossovers
Bar Bell Curls
Preacher Curls
Dumbell Curls
Concentration Curls
Thursday: Shoulders and Back
Machine seated Press
Upright rows
Lat Raises
Bent Over Lat Raises
Pulldowns
T-bar Rows
Dumbell Rows
Pullin's to Waist
Saturday: Legs and Triceps
Leg Press
Hacks
Thigh Extensions
Leg Curls
Ez Lying Press
Tricep Press downs
Ropes Press downs
One-Arm Reverse cable pushdowns
Just wondering if that's an ok program to make lean gains?
Thanks

Harvest, why don't you try one of the FT workouts? They train each part once a week.

I am discovering that most trainers have no idea what they're talking about. Once a week is all you need anything over an hour in the gym and cortisol will start breaking down lean tissue. stick to 45-60 min. in the gym and one muscle group a week. gl
ps. nex time you heat something from a trainer get a second or third opinion beofre putting their advice to practice.

If you only doing one maybe 2 excercises for each body part.......I could see doing them, 2x a week. But if you bust your butt, you can get in done one time a week. You shouldn't have the engery to do another day, if your doing it balls to the walls like your soposed to be doing.

Twice in a week is a good shock to the system every once in while for me, but I personally wouldn't do it more than one week at a time and no more than once every 2-3months. Again just to shock/overload the system.

Im very new to this site and also to weight training in general. Maybe a simple stupid question but could someone answer it please? Looking at my exercise plan I dont understand what 'input weight used' is. I understand it when exercising with weights as it means weight used but what do I input when doing calf raises for example? Would be grateful if someone could answer this please! Thankyou
