Last Friday (light legs day) I decided to try something a little different. Instead of doing my usual deep box squats, I tried 21's. This is really not that easy. On each set I did 7 reps half way down, then I went deep and did 7 reps only half way up, then 7 full reps. I didn't go too heavy (up to 255, I think), but it burned my legs in a way I haven't felt in a long time. Change is good every now and then. ;)
As a side note.... If you plan on trying this, be sure to keep good form when you go deep and only go half way up. Do not bounce! Pause for a moment at the point you are half way up and go back down under control.

I am going to add this to my workout. I can't say I love squats but it is the biggest part of my leg workout. I like to do 21's sometimes on my bicep day just to break up my routine. (The truth is I get bored sometimes) This puts a real burn on the bicep. I will let you know how it goes.

That's a brilliant idea Jbennett!!!
Yes me too, I often do 21's for my biceps but I have never done it for my quads......(or legs!) Hmmmm I imagine the burning already.....
