what should your box squats be if you never done them before? i looked these up and its basically where youdo a squat down onto a chair but just before you sit down on that chair u try n contract ur hamstrings and glutes?? and puase and then go and sit down then explode up on ur quads right?? anyway i never done these before so for someone new to these what should i be looking at for weight wise in comparasion to normal squats? also how should my stance be.. and would these be best as a dynamic thing?

Weight will be less.
And do a search for this; it's been discussed ad nauseum on this thread...

try elitefts.com. There are lots of articles on them there. As far as weight goes, you should use a high percentage of your max for that particular type of squat, whether safety squat, wide stance, low box, box above parallel, if using chains or bands, etc. The weight will prob be less if using a box slightly below parallel, but the point is to find how much you can do for that type of squat on that day. If you do a different squat each week, you can set a new pr each week.

I just typed "box squats" and came up with about a dozen topics. You have to actually look through the posts to get your research; gator has constructed some great programs including box squats.
Otherwise, in addition to wrestler's suggestion, try deepsquater.com and elitefitnesssystems.com as well.

The first result is probably the best, posted in Nov of last year: gator does some great programming. Since you can't seem to find it using the search, try this link:
