Thought I would post a bit of my useless knowledge:

The ancient world has many wonders, the Great Wall of China, the Giza Pyramids, to name a few. A lot of people know of the Aztecs, Incas and Mayans, but do not know that the Mayans built pyramids every bit as great, and some may be bigger than the Egyptians. Also little is know how some buildings were built. One such builiding high in the mountains is made up of such big blocks of stone, cut out many miles away, that even today we would have a very hard time getting them cut out and in place. That brings up another point, the Mayans while advanced in Math, and other sciences never developed the wheel, so how did they move these huge blocks? ANd then set them together with out mortar so close even a laser can not measure the gap?

FOOD FOR THOUGHT.

Todays Trivia post of useless knowledge:
In a book called "In Plain Sight" Gloria Farley has amassed a huge amount of evidence that the Americas we visitied but peoples from europe long before the Vikings or Columbus. In fact her books states that ancient seafarers like the Phocieans, Romans, and others were here thousand of years before the 1492 voyage.

I have actually heard about the Roman's visits. That would be quite the kick if it were proven true; but not too hard to believe, considering what else they accomplished.

The ancient Celtic warriors went into battle painted blue and naked to scare their enemies. Their women also fought along side the men holding a shield to protect the non-sword carrying side.

Back when ships used sails for power and fought with cannons, more men died from falling over board during battle and drowning then those tht were killed by cannon balls of musket fire. Also the most common death after a battle was infection from wood splinters.

Okay... not really trivia... but a joke, since we're on the topic of ducks:

Don`t Step On The Ducks

Three women find themselves in Heaven.

When they get there, St. Peter says, "We only have one rule here in heaven: don't step on the ducks!"

So they enter heaven, and sure enough, there are ducks all over the place. It is almost impossible not to step on a duck, and although they try their best to avoid them, the first woman accidentally steps on one.

Along comes St. Peter with the ugliest man she ever saw.

St. Peter chains them together and says, "Your punishment for stepping on a duck is to spend eternity chained to this ugly man!"

The next day, the second woman steps accidentally on a duck and along comes St. Peter, who doesn't miss a thing. With him is another extremely ugly man. He chains them together with the same admonishment as for the first woman.

The third woman has observed all this and, not wanting to be chained for all eternity to an ugly man, is very, VERY careful where she steps.

She manages to go months without stepping on any ducks, but one day St. Peter comes up to her with the most handsome man she has ever laid eyes on… very tall, long eyelashes, muscular, and thin.

St. Peter chains them together without saying a word.

The happy woman says, "I wonder what I did to deserve being chained to you for all of eternity?"

The guy says, "I don't know about you, but I stepped on a duck!"

The expression "Balls against the wall" came from world war 2 pilots who were trying to get more speed out of the aircraft to get out of enemy zone. The Sticks which controlled the speed would be moved forward (like on a boat or stick shift) and would have big balls on top. When they got to the limit of movement the balls were touching the front wall of the craft.
Alot of that same generation, used that expression when they got stuck or in a jam.
Now, about the colons, are you talking about semi colons??:big_smile:

I beleive the Mayans moved the great bricks by first carving them at the location found, then by using large tree trunks (similar to a tank)placed them under the rock then dragged it to its location by (putting the last log in front method. question 2...Time seals and errodes, have you ever heard of petrified wood?

The reason it is considered bad luck to whistle backstage is because back in the day most stage hands were sailors and communicated scenery ques to each other by whistling - if you whistled backstage you just might get some scenery dropped on yer head!

we could probably do this all day, now i have a question...

on a product it will say 'new and improved'

if its 'new' it never existed before so how can it be improved?

if it's 'improved' then it obviously isn't new because it existed before....

so how the hell can it be new AND improved? doesn't it have to be one or the other?
