bayouangl29,
Hi, and welcome to this site. It's been wonderful for me, and I hope you can get as much out of it as I did. I'm not a nutritional specialist, or a FT moderator, or a personal trainer (but I'm working on those). I do have lots of advice and motivation. I am going to get 100% fit, in shape, and healthy. Is that good enough? I'd be glad to help you in any way you need, and help with your diet plan. Josh -------------- Josh Hollers hollers2@freetrainers.com -We get out of life what we put into it. I did forget to mention I'm in the military and deployed to Iraq currently. I love this site, and want to help. Every day might not be an option though. But I am here if you want support.-------------- Josh Hollers hollers2@freetrainers.com -We get out of life what we put into it. Be thankful we've been given alot more than we deserve. |

I sent you an e-mail but will post too.
I'm very impressed with this site. My workout plan is great. (Although I'm bitter for not losing an ounce or an inch the first week... But I'm dealing with reality on that one!) After the first week I started using the nutiritional tracker too. WAY too high in fat and more often than not way too low in calories. So my learning curve right now is great. I'm investing in healthier shopping. I did weight watchers before and had no concept of balancing carbs, protein and fat. It was always too "hard" for me to figure out. The nutritional tracker makes it understandable!! I highly recommend it. Anyhow - I'm here for ya girl! We all need motivation. You've come to the right place. :dumbbell: :dumbbell: :dumbbell:  |

well I'am so glad you both wrote, it's really great to know someone cares and helps me to keep doing what i'm doing now to stay in shape and be healthier. Me my sister and my mom have been working out for the past week or so we walk 30mins. on the tredmill every day 5 days a week, i'm thinking about adding some cardio like a step routine also to maybe boost it up some but not sure if i should right now with just starting out i don't want to get tired this soon and want to quit cause i really want to stick with this. So any ideas do ya think it would be ok to start soemthing with my tredmill or wait a bit longer??? please let me know ok. oh and thanks again for writing.

Honestly - you have to be aware of your limits. You're right in that if you go too hard too fast you may discourage yourself.
What you could consider is trying some light weights for resistance training. To start it doesn't have to be a lot. Just some light dumbell curls while watching you favorite TV show is better than sitting and doing nothing! Come to think of it, I'm a CSI addict and should take my own advise - I'd have some serious pipes if I did!   Keep in touch bayouangl29! |

bayouangl29,
Hey, sorry it's been a couple days. I've got a few questions and recommendations. I don't want to bombard you, but here goes: If you do cardio every day, are you also lifting weights? (not neccessarily heavy weights, just some resistance trng) If so, make sure your getting enough fuel for your body, and try and do cardio after weights, or at least first thing in the AM. For eating, 4-6 smaller balanced meals high in protein, low in fat and sugar, and PLENTY OF WATER. If you're counting, Carivan above recommends 12 calories/lb body weight on a toning cycle, and 120 oz or more water per day is pretty easy. Also, do you take a multi-vitamin? It helps keep minerals recycled in our body that might get flushed w/ the water. And, I don't think there's a reson to do both treadmill and step routine back to back. You can alternate so you don't burn out and also to train other muscles, that's fine. But if you're not getting a good enough workout from the treadmill alone, chances are you can step it up a notch. Like I tell my soldiers, leave it all out there on the field. If you have nothing left at the end, that means you gave it all you had, and you have something to be proud of. Try HIIT. It's a really good workout. And, it's way less time on those damn machines. |
