Hey mike, I am by no means a professional bodybuilder but I have asked the same question your asking before and have came away with this. First off, there is no correct way to go about increasing or decreasing weights after each set. It all depends on what look your going for. If your looking to bulk up/get bigger and get big gains then by all means increase the weight each set rather than decrease it. However, if you are looking to get a more defined/toned look and improve on your endurance then decreasing the weight and doing more reps would be the right solution. For me, i am currently looking to bulk up so i have been doing something like 2 sets of around 8 reps for most exercises and then on the last set bump it up and grab a spot from someone and push for 5 or so reps. I find this has worked for me and ive shown huge improvement. I hope that i helped

yeah, on that note, increase the weight for your next set if you are reaching your goal (ex. want to do 10 reps, and complete 10 reps easily, so move the weight up). Decrease the weight if it is throwing your form off, or are nowhere near your goal (ex. struggling with 1st few reps when you want a solid 10)

It's just one routine out of thousands. Most call it the pyramid. Others call it reverse stack I think, because as you come down you also go down in weights. Whatever-it's to combine both a cutting-toning workout(high rep/low weight) with a mass gaining workout(low rep/high weight) in the same workout. It's all up to speculation of the person doing the workout if it works good. I like to keep it simple though and do one or the other.

Also, if you got your workout from this site, and they told you you were wrong, don't put too much stock in their argument. They either didn't know what your goals were, or, (most likely) didn't know what they were talking about. Do what you feel comfortable doing, as long as you keep your form. Good luck in keeping fit!
