Everytime I do a shoulder workout, I get red stripes along the top of my shoulder, up to the base of my neck. They look to me like blood vessels that burst but the thing is, they are perfectly straight as if someone has drawn them with a ruler; and usually about .5 - 1 mm in width. They are all perfectly parallel as well. It appears these "lines" are superficial and just under the skin, but I have no idea what they are. They don't cause any pain or discomfort, nor do they affect my performance in any way. After a few days to a week, everything's clear in the area. Any ideas on what these are?

I get those kind of stripes from the seams of my T-shirts during workouts. Depending on what condition you are in and what exercises you're doing, that may be the culprit also.

Hrmm, interesting thought. I'll wear a different kind of shirt next time I work out and see if that helps.

I've never seen these on myself before. Does this mean that I am not working them out enough? Or do only some people get these marks? I am fairly lean with 16-17% bodyfat.

I only seem to get them when I do lateral raises....and I think yes your body fat has to be fairly low...under 10% probably...last time I checked I was 7%...
