Maybe someone can help me. I have a very high metabolism and eat alot. I am trying to gain mass, but am having a difficult time doing it. I look skinny, yet at 6'1, I weigh over 200 lbs. I want to look like I weigh 200+ lbs. Why can I not do such? What can I do to help along the process? I already work out very hard, and have a very high calorie diet (4000+ carbs). Any ideas?

Even though your diet is "high" in your eyes, if you are not gaining weight, it needs to be higher. So many factors go into figuring a diet, someone the exact weight and height as you doing the same exercises may eat 4000 calories and gain like a weed, while you do not. Thus, you need to up your intake.-------------- If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.... bb1fit@freetrainers.com |

But if I am already on a 4,200 calorie diet, how much more can I safely up it to? 5,000? 7,000? Any ideas?

Man that is an aweful lot of calories. Are you sure that is really how much you are consuming? Maybe you are calculating wrong.

I work out 5 days a week, but not a whole lot of cardio. Most of my cardio is walking for extended periods of time.
On the 5 days I do workout, it is 3 days hard training, 2 days light training. Here is my exact diet (with calories and cpf) On Waking (and pre/post workout)- No-xplode- 36 calories, 9c0p0f Cell-Mass- 38 calories, 10c0p0f Xplode- 456 calories, 114c0p0f Myoplex Protien Shake RTD- 300 calories, 20c42p7f Breakfast- 5 egg whites- 85 calories, 2c18p0f 2 slices dry wheat toast- 139 calories, 26c,5p,2f Brunch- Myoplex Protien Shake (from packet)- 280 calories, 24c42p3f Protien Bar- 340 calories, 29c30p12f Lunch Sub Club Sandwich 12" (Subway)- 640 calories, 94c48p12f Powerade Mountain Blast- 150 calories, 43c0p0f Between Lunch and Dinner- Protien Bar- 340 calories, 29c30p12f Cell Mass- 38 calories, 10c0p0f Dinner- Chicken Breast Sandwich (commercially prepared)- 500 calories, 50c24p23f Fried Potatos (commercially prepared)- 520 calories, 70c6p25f Powerade Mountain Blast- 200 calories, 53c0p0f Before Bed- Myoplex Protien Shake RTD- 300 calories, 20c42p7f This is what I eat every day, which totals to around 4,400 calories, 600g carbohydrates, 285g protien, and 103g fat. So I am sure I am really consuming this many calories. Do I really want to up my calories even more? Should I tweak my diet? What can I do that is healthy for me? I like weighing 200+lbs, but would love to look like I do. Thanks |

i think u should try eating REAL food for a change.. u r eating wayyyyyyyy too much of other stuff.. i don't know.. but i think u shud change ur diet to real food and see how it goes..
the only SOLID food u r eating is: 5 egg whites 2 slices dry wheat toast Sub Club Sandwich 12" Chicken Breast Sandwich Fried Potatos and that is also commercially prepared.. what i think is u r lacking the original food.. cuz it gives u a LOT of nutrition extra.. which the bars and shakes and other stuff won't provide u... just my thoughts... the other guys would be in better situation to tell u more... -------------- A life worth living is a life lived with honor and dignity..bow to no moral.. The only reason why I eat what I eat is because I work 13 hours a day and don't have time to prepare my meals or eat real meals, I also take other supplements to get me the nutrients I need (vitamins, minerals, etc.) I own a business and have to be there 7 days a week..... Any suggestions on what a guy can modify on a tight schedule? (I mean very tight, no time to prepare much of anything if anything)

it takes 1 hour to prepare all six meals for the next day.. so why don't u consider ur working hours to be 14 instead of 13?... u earn "money" in 13 hours and earn "health" in 14th... that isn't a bad thing.. isn't it?... after these 14 hours u still got 10 hours to sleep and do some other casual stuff..
i mean.. what is the point of earning loads of cash if u r not feeling healthy or u can't eat properly???... just my thoughts... -------------- A life worth living is a life lived with honor and dignity..bow to no moral.. what meals would you suggest though in replacement for what I currently eat? Remember, on a tight schedule it is tough to add a lot of prep time, and the last few meals have to be able to sit unrefridgerated for over 10 hours.

here's what i do...
1- on sundays i BBQ about 20+ chicken breasts and freeze them.. u can eat them throughout the week.. every office has a microwave.. 2- u can prepare tuna sandwiches.. just takes about 10 min.. i put olive oil, finely chopped onions, lettuce and chilly sauce in them.. 3- prepare salads for urself... mix tomattos, lettuce, onions, cucumber, boiled chick peas (canned) and olives in them.. taste dillicious and u can make HUGE amount at one day and use it the other day too.. for some more recepies look at the recepie thumb tec tread here.. it has a lot to offer.. http://www.freetrainers.com/FT/jsp/Message.jsp?f_ix=3&t_ix=2286 hope i helped... -------------- A life worth living is a life lived with honor and dignity..bow to no moral.. Its a fairly low fight- high protien sandwich with some lower fat meats.... I eat it on whole wheat bread "sub" bread... I actually have a friend make it for me but it is modeled after subways sandwich.
