ive heard many rumors that negatives are a great way to "cheat" and get qucik improvements on lifts, but ive also heard they as useless as tits on a bull, whats the real deal

depends...'negatives' help with antagonistic muscle groups...so if someone happens to have a weak back(because many people don't train their back properly) then it might in fact help...the weight will feel lighter and you'll control it down easier on descent.....when you bench press...however for other people it's a waste of time if they already have a strong back...it depends....

Negatives by themselves dont really do much for strength gains; they can help with mass, but that's not what we're really after here...
