I recently just read that you should not consume anything before youre workout. It is said that if you consume carbs before training you will be burning carbs, not fat, therefore if you workout on an empty stomach you will burn alot more fat, and that is where you will get youre energy from... Has anyone else heard about this or tried it? I normally take half a portion of a wheight gain drink about an hour before i train and eat some fruit, and sometimes if im hungry i have a meal replacement or energy bar...

This really depends on your goals. If your goal is strictly fat loss, then this might be a viable option. I do this sometimes getting ready for a contest, but it is the ONLY time I would do this. I take BCAA's during this training period, a good defense against losing muscle mass. Your energy and strength will be way down though. Expect this. If you are trying to gain muscle, then NEVER train on an empty stomach. You need to have all the strength and energy you can to lift the heaviest weights you can, and just plain more calories, because you need more calories for gaining muscle size. Hope this helps...

I happen to think Muscle Mass BCAA's by Beverly are the best quality on the market. A good place to get them cheap is www.vitaglo.com.
Don't confuse them with Mass Aminos which Beverly also makes. BCAA's only have 3 aminos in them. The trick is to flood the system with these, and "fool" the system into thinking it is already breaking down muscle tissue due to the large amount of BCAA's that it sees in the bloodstream, and thinking uh oh, and revert to fatty acid stores instead for energy, thus sparing lean mass.

By the way... What exactly do the BCAAs do? Would you recommend taking them to gain muscle mass and loose fat?

No, I would recommend Mass Aminos for this. The BCAA's really shine the best when you are pretty lean and calorie deprived.
