Hi, I'm 30yr and weigh 75kg and 20% of fat. I have been training for the past six months 6 days per week and still cant get rid of the fat on my abs even after doing abdominal exercisers almost daily. I've recently heard that drinking HOT water during workouts will burn lots of fats.

Any comments?????????

You cannot 'target' a bodypart to lose weight. So ab workouts will develop your ab muscles but won't specifically eliminate the fat stored there.

The best thing for you to do to lose the fat on your abs is to change your diet in addition to doing lot of cardio. Weight training is also good. But diet is #1 in your case - multiple little meals throughout the day and restrict carbs and fat intake.

You have some good answers all ready, I have never herd that consuming hot water will burn calories. Remember the more ab work you do may make you look even bigger builds muscle under the fat. Dont take that the wrong way ab work is good, in fact there is an article in reader digest that people with strong stomach muscles live longer that people with week ones. Food for thought. Cardio and diet like has been mentioned good luck.

I have recently read that drinking cold water will speed up your metabolism. So as far as drinking hot water I'm not sure but the colder the water the more heat your body creates and therefore speeds up your metabolism and should help you lose weight a little.

since we r talking about water, drinking room temperture water while working out helps keep u hydrated better than cold water since the body can use the water straight away and not have to heat it up first.
alot of professional sportspeople use this

Ice water definately helps burn more calories. but I wouldn't drink it during a workout.

If ice water helps burn more calories then why not drink it during a workout?

Please enlighten.

I think you would get really bad cramps. The amount of calories it burns is not a great deal.

As to the original post, your simple answer is diet. You must have the correct diet to lose fat. Without it, you can train till the end of time and not see your abs. Abs are a direct result of diet. And the hot water thing??? Who in the he## told you that? whomever it was, stay away from that person's advice.

If you are at twenty percent bodyfat, you probably just need to switch your diet to get a little leaner and get the layer off of your abs so you can see them! Try carb-cycling for a while.

Oh, yeah, and drink about a gallon of water - not hot - during your day.

it is not the workout that will make you lose fat, but your diet. DIET IS THE KEY.
need to eat complex carbs, protein and fat. nspecially fat. TO LOSE FAT YOU HAVE TO CONSUME FAT. yes, i am not crazy but that the way it is. look for EFA(essential fatty acids) on the search option down below.

To lose weight quickly....you need to focus on diet(a balanced, nutritious one) and cardio.....you also need to produce a caloric deficit through cardio/diet....

also although cardio will burn more calories in the short term....weight training will permanently help you increase metabolic rate(when you slowly start increasing muscle mass)....to continue to lose weight and prevent gaining back the weight...

Healthy fat is essential...but it still should be kept in check...because at is very dense source of energy at 9 calories per gram.....aim for 10-15% of calories from healthy fats

Instead of just telling the guy about diet give him tips geeze.
Okay try cutting you carboyhydrates such as pasta ect.
Good pasta is dark pasta ie. brown rice. Start eating more fibre as in fills you up. And your protein intake should be 2.2g for every pound that you are if you want to gain muscle. REMEMBER, cardio does NOT burn fat, MUscle burns fat. Cardio burns your excess sugar!! good luck. Try keeping your calories under 2500. Eat lots of veggies also. And maybe try takeing a multi vitamin it will speed your metabolic rate if your vitamin intake is low.

Im the same. 5 months, 27 22% body fat.

Fiber sounds good since it fills your stomach, but what sources of fiber arent loaded with carbohydrates??

Also, what does it matter if your calories came from fat? arent 500 kcal of fat the same as 500 kcal of carbohydrates or protein? IF you dont use it it gets turned into fat anyway.
