Hi Everyone,
I have been trying to lose 10 lbs. for a year now and had resorted to eating 1200-1400 cal per day while doing an hour of INTENSE cardio every day. I'm 5ft 4in and 135lbs. This diet made me feel like crap and my body refused to let go of the weight after a 2-3 lb loss the first week, but I kept up the diet for about 4 months.
Now my goal is to eat healthy and keep my muscle while losing fat at a slow rate. I have been following a new and (I hope) healty diet for about 2 weeks but have gained 2 lbs....so is this just my body adjusting to no longer being starved? Or am I just eating too much food? If this is a reasonable diet for me for weight loss, then does anyone know how long it will take my body to heal and start losing the weight? Here is a typical day:
meal 1
1 cup kellogs complete wheat bran
1/2 cup 1% milk
1 cup strawberries
meal 2
1 mozzarella string cheese
14 unsalted almonds
meal 3
2 hardboiled eggs mixed w/ 1/4 C lowfat cottage cheese
1 slice 100% whole wheat bread
1 apple
workout - 45 min lifting folowed by 30 min cardio interval training
meal 4
whey protein bar (170 cal. 15g protein, )
1 cup strawberries
meal 5
grilled chicken breast
veggies stir fried in 2tsp olive oil
meal 6
8oz plain lowfat yogurt
fiber cake (80 cal. 13g fiber)
I usually figure my daily calories are around 1600 now, and don't feel like I should be gaining. Any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Kira

I am glad you're eating 6 meals...however try to do a further split...to 8-10....it's a pain in the butt i know...but all you do is just have a handful of nuts or trailmix(and that counts as a meal).....
Cutting calories severely causes your body to slow down your metabolism considerably as it thinks you're in starvation mode...so it's saving every last precious fat cell....instead cut calories slowly no more than 100-200 at a time...if you're doing a lot of cardio than you should be taking a lot more calories(from mostly complex carbs).....try to have approx 100-200 caloric deficit through a combination of both diet and cardio....also try to cycle your carb intake so that your body uses them more efficiently....

Your on the rite track, you must be patient and consistant. Dont give up-its gonna take 6-8 weeks at least to get any results. Be faithfull and just do the work. Here is the key: (you have to figure it out do it your own way)and then set another goal.
