lots of time and effort... it varies with person to person. As long as you maintain a great diet and a good workout schedule you should see great results :)

It depends on what results you are looking for and what shape your already in. If your wanting to see results as good as looking at Arnold, then as bropie said it will be a life time commitment. But if your just wanting to gain some muscle or lose some fat, it doesn't take too long.

Some people it does take longer than others due to their physical condition. One lady I trained has 200lbs, had absolutely no muscle. Her goal was to lose a lot of weight and gain muscle and then tone her muscle. Since she couldn't start jogging due to lack of muscle, she had to start at just walking. It took her about 12 weeks to finally see a difference. Another lady was maybe 15lbs over weight, but had good muscle, it took her 6 weeks to be able to see good results. Same thing for men wanting to gain muscle or lose weight, it all depends on how capable of working out you are.

If your looking to lose weight. A good balanced diet and some cardio is going to help you more than anything. Eat a low calorie diet with very low fat, and high amounts of water with no soft drinks. Do that and run about 30 minutes a day before you go to bed, I gaurantee you'll start losing weight with in 7 days. Continue and you can have good results in 6-8 weeks.

If your wanting to gain weight and muscle. Same thing, eat a good diet, higher in calories and high in protein, only drink water. Work out 4-5 days a week for 45 mins to 1 hour each time. Do that and you would see a weight gain of possibly 2lbs a week.

In order to get in very good shape, to be very honest it takes a very long time. I have been training on gaining muscle mass for a very long time and I am still improving. You can always improve when it comes to fitness. However, it is 10x easier to lose your muscle, or gain back fat then it is the gain the muscle and lose the fat. Once you get to your goal, if you quick exercising, you will end up right back to where you started in a matter of weeks. This is where the commitment comes in. If you look at fitness celebrities, they didn't get the way they are by working out for a year and quitting. They have been working out consistantly for a long time. If you want to stay in shape, you have to stay consistant on your workouts. It is a lifetime commitment as bropie said.

I hope you get the results you want and keep them. Take care, I wish you the best of luck.
