I'm wondering about eating after 7 PM. Is that only if you're on a 9-5 schedule and go to bed at around 10-11 PM? I haven't (and hopefully won't ever) been on that schedule in years, and with my current job, I go to work at 7, and get home at around 2 AM, and bed at 4. If I don't eat after 7, I figured it'd be 17 or 18 hours that I'd go without eating, given that I wake up around noon.

Any thoughts- should I just not eat after 7 or can I push it a bit later due to my schedule?

with your schedule, i would push it later.. thats a very long time without eating, and its likely your body will slip into a catabolic state of muscle breakdown

Geez, where did it ever come from that your digestive system shuts down after some certain hour! If you are up, you need to nourish your body.

I think it would make sense to eat on a regular schedule, just as if you worked 9:00 to 5:00... I agree with bb1, if you're up, nourish your body...

I work different shifts, and although it gets confusing at times (the disturbed sleep pattern doesn't help either!) I just try to eat every 3 hours while I'm awake, regardless of what the actual time is.

I think you took a bit of truth and made it extreme....

I think it's a good idea to cut down on carbs(especially simple) a couple hours before going to sleep....instead you should still eat something like slow digesting protein(ie cassiene.. the kidn you'd find in cottage cheese..)...or yogurt...a handful of nuts is also good...etc...

However if you got an irregular schedule...you need to change it accordingly...you should eat eat least every 2-3 hours....

Also am I correct to understand that you sleep 3 hours a day? you said you go to work at 7? and get up at 4?.....I mean that's rediculous...you need a minimum of 8 hours of sleep....you're going to mess up your health.....so cut down on hours at work (money can't buy back the wasted health/youth nor happiness)
