I am trying to find out what the best affordable supplements are for building muscle mass. I do not want artificial sweeteners, as I am seriously worried about their safety. There is far too much negative information about them right now.

What about the Met-Rx low-carb shakes, with 35G protein, or the PowerBar protein at 24G? The powerbars have a good chunk of carbs, but that would be okay for my purposes.

I just want something I can have once or twice a day between meals, as it is hard for me to eat as much as I need to at work.

I don't know enough about the ingredients to know which proteins are good and which ones are going to be useless for me, can someone please help me out?

My main protein sources are chicken breasts, cottage cheese, etc. so I'm not planning on eating a box of bars a day, don't worry ;)

whey protein powders are good with milk...as a shake after workout...

generally you want a powder or RMD that has a blend of whey and cassein proteins...

before sleep cassein protein is best....

google.com is best to find specific sites for comparisons...

my favorite whey powder is 'Pro-rated'

a pretty good mixed protein powder is 'Muscle Milk'..

You should save quite a bit buying them online...also buying several may save you more on top...if you try a supplement and know you're going to take it for an X amount of time...

Generally look for protein bars with at least 15-20g of protein....whehter you want carbs/total calories in the bars depends on your goals...try different kinds to find ones that you like taste wise...Cookies and Cream seems to be the ebst flavor from bar to bar....that i tried....chocolate flavor is also pretty good in many kinds....However generally go for 20-30g protein bars....

Only thing I have to say that menace didn't. Stay away from Meso Tech bars, they give you a taste in your nose of throw up (if you know what I mean). It made me feel sick after taking a bite. For protein bars I use Myoplex Storm, they have 27 grams of protein, they cost about $24 for 12, and they taste fairly good. No protein bar is going to be delicous, but these taste ok.

I beg to differ on taste!

I take OneWhey bars, made of whey protien... about $21.00 for 12 of them. They have 30g of protien per bar, and taste just like a snickers if not better!
