If you have read my other post in the injury section, you will know I am having problems with my shoulder and knee joints.

With this in mind, I need to know, what are the signs of overtraining?

I started 4 months ago...at first i was full of energy and motivation, now I have none!!!

My goals are to increase my upper body muscle size and lose weight from my chest and lower body.

What should my main excercises be? I have a home free weight bench etc.

What is the definition of enough weight for mass gains?
ie what should i feel?

Thanks!:)

if you are consistently getting weaker with a particular exercise or are working out a part that is still sore from the last workout, these are some potential signs of overtraining. it doesn't necessarily have to do with motivation, but not improving, or getting worse at something will definately bring you down. switch up the order of your exercises every once and awhile, change up your intensity, train more for strength for a few weeks, then more for endurance for awhile.. keep things changing to stay interested. when your body gets used to your routine, its time to switch things up.

have u checked out the ft home fitness plan? that should cover everything you need to get going.

if you are looking to put on muscle mass, train with heavier weight for less reps, say 6- 8 reps for most exercises. you will pretty much be training to failure with this.. so its gonna be tough work.

If you are eating enough, drinking enough water, and are still constantly tired, more than likely you are doing too much. When you first start out you shouldn't do more than a 16-20 set work out. Then after a while you can move up to a 30 set workout. Long time from then, if you do the Arnold workouts, you'll be able to do a 70 set workout daily 6 days a week with out getting too tired. You have to do it at your body's pace, if you push it your body gets tired. You want to be a little tired, but you also want to be recovered by the next day.

If your ever in doubt.....take a few extra days off or even a week.

If you lost your "fire", unmotivated, sore, "don't feel right", feels heavy but was light.......take some time off.....it won't kill you.
