What's wrong with white bread and especially pasta? I love Italian food and ofen cook it at home. The Italians eat pasta all the time, but they are on average very fit. So what's the deal?

its refined......meanning cheaper made.....more sugar..therefore converted more easily into sotred bodyfat if this sugar is used. White breads enegery it gives you is only for short about of time....then you "crash" just like on a candy bar.
Whole wheats, have fiber and other god stuff in it, also because it has lees sugar, less insluin response therefore less lily to be stored as fat. Also it burns longer giving you energy longer.
However after a hard workout, white pasta won't hurt you most will go direstly to muscles.

Is white pasta and the 100% semolina that is traditionally used in italian coking the same thing? THe penne rigate pasta I have in my kitchen has 3g sugar per serving (42g carbs in total). I don't know if that's considered higher or not.
