I just went to the grocery store and bought tons of eggs. Is there a limit on number of egg whites I should eat? I could eat anywhere from 6 to 15 egg whites in a day, and I was wondering if that's too many and bad for my health or not.

As long as you fit it into your daily calorie intake you should be fine, but I'm going to warn you when consume close to 10-15 egg whites(how do i put this?) your gonna get some pretty nast gas:) Just fair warning other than that, there should be no problems maybe pick up some beano while you at it:)

Eggwhites are almost the perfect protein. I personally eat one dozen per day, along with a few yolks when bulking. Eggs are basically the "perfect food."

Yep, six in the morning and six before bed. When dieting as I just was for a contest, I raise it to 8-9 in the morning as I cut carbs a bit.

I eat whole eggs....is there a rule of thumb for how many whole eggs to eat? I eat 3-4 whole eggs 4-5 days a week...but it seems too little for me....I am thinking 5-6 whole eggs is a little better, but my mom with her old wive's tale bs tells me it's unhealthy....

Egg-eaters get huge infusion of Omega-3s, protein, amino acids and healthy fats every time they crack a yolk. These vital substances boost not only your heart health, but also your musculature, joints and bones, and even mental functioning.

According to a recent Reuters Health article, a 6-week study of 49 adults showed that consuming 2 eggs daily does not adversely effect either cholesterol levels (completely misunderstood, by the way - but that's another Dose) or endothelial functioning, which is widely regarded as an early sign of arterial disease and an indicator of future heart risk. This finding is significant in that it DOUBLES the American Heart Association's recent blessing to a one-egg-a-day diet for good heart health. This Yale research follows several other key findings I've reported on in recent years, including:

The University of Washington study which showed that adding 2 daily eggs to the diet recommended by the National Cholesterol Program had no effect on plasma LDL (consider by the mainstream to be "bad" cholesterol) - even among those with elevated LDL

A European study of 21,000 men which concluded that dietary cholesterol was unassociated with heart disease risk

A large body of epidemiological research (over 117,000 subjects, in fact) showing that overall adjusted risk for heart disease was identical whether participants ate no eggs at all or seven or more per week

Whats wrong is to eat several egg yolks daily (more than 4)

Yep, see my post I just posted on Cholesterol and heart disease. By a doctor. Good stuff, something we in the "know" have known for quite some time. I have been preaching this to anyone willing to listen for a long time. It is posted in the general health forum.

What about drinking egg beaters from the carton? Is that the same thing as eating whole eggs? Is it bad?

Bb1fit, If the egg yolks are perfectly healthy and doesn't affect your chance of getting a heart disease, howcome you don't eat 6 or morewhole eggs a day? Whynot just eat dozen whole eggs instead of just egg whites?

Because of the amount of calories and fat that are in the eggs. He gets his calories and fat from other food and supplement sources and the whole eggs probably don't fit into his caloric needs for his goals which I think for right now is to maintain body weight and then start bulking again. This is probably why he doesn't egg 6 or more whole eggs. Plus, that would be a lot of cholesterol!

but cholestrol intake is old wive's tale. after reading these facts on this forum, eggs seem to have so much good nutrients that it seems like a waste of throwing away the yolks.

DX14AG got it pretty close. I count my calories, and depending on what I am doing, need more fats/less fats, or in general more or less calories. So, eating 4 eggwhites and only 2 yolks saves me 220 calories alone for later in the day, plus fats.

I like to make me an egg-white omelet, whipped with skim milk for fluffyness, then add a little low fat ham, fat free cheese and some spices for flavoring. If I feel like spurging I'll even put ketchup on it, strictly for the licopene of course.

the number of egg whites u eat depends on ur age, fitness level etc. if u are weight training u should eat about 8 egg whites a day. if u dont train a lot then DONT eat too many egg whites, the body will only absorb what it needs and the rest will either get stored as fat or excreted! heres a rule of thumb everyone shud remember ..TOO MUCH OF ANYTHING IS BAD FOR U..so moderate it!
heres a goos example for u, a real life one: everyone knows that carrots are good for u, it has vitamin A, retinol. There was this guy who ate soo many carrots everyday thinking that it would be good for him..but after a medical checkup it was concluded that his liver has been very badly damaged due to excess amounts of retinol that it had to break down. as far as i can remember, a substance in retinol is poisnous, and too much of it will kill many many liver cells. So MODERATION is the key!

No, no bropie, i mean the whole raw egg. Apparently there is an anti-digestive enzyme called avidin found in the egg so its impossible for you to digest it. Cooking it neutralizes the enzyme so it is digestible.
