aren't tired usually bigger than the 45lb plates or 100's? making it higher up....making the range of motion shorter? Pretty impresive though......although he's 404 lbs.

Theres a guyin my "muscle" magizine with an articel on him......he's 5'2" 114lbs and can dead over 500...thats impressive

yea I saw that article Andrew....very impressive indeed

You are right tires used were from Hummers....so yea...I guess it was higher up...but it was a record at the Strongman event...what was even more impressive tho is that he used both overhand grip...instead of the alternated....

I don't get how someone could grip 977lbs that way (the both overhand grip). That's quite amazing though I must say.

Was it on an axle (like an apollon bar or a bull bar) or on an olympic bar? Either way, double overhand is impressive.

The best feeling in the world is the feeling you get after a tough set of squats after you step back from the power rack and throw up all over the floor.

Its a 14 foot special bar they design for strongman deadlifts. its not the same as a powerlifters deadlift b/c you dont have to pull as far up. or as somone said the ROM isnt as great. 977 is still the biggest pull to date wich is increadble. but that is strongman style. I personally believe that if he did a powerlifting kind of training it wouldnt have worked.

WELL the point of strong man compotitions.....is to test real world/ functional strength.......than just normal powerlifting. By using everyday or different objects thats not in the weight room.

Bar may have been longer.......but think about it , he prolly had to balance that 14ft rod.......which if I was to guess......was wider than a normal bar......if not, the tensal strength wouldn't had been much and the bar would have bent with all that weight.......So it was atleast 1in wider than normal.

Iipressive grip strength.
