I've noticed that my bench has not went up as much as it should and have also noticed that my left elbow comes in a lot closer to my body when bench pressing then my right. My right elbow has always been naturally out perpendicular but now it is hard to keep my left one in and my left shoulder hurts very badly especially when trying to do incline.
Have I naturally done this as a result of my left shoulder being strained or is this what has caused my shoulder to be strained? also what can I do to for chest excercises while my shoulder heals?

Have you had the injury diagnosed by a doc? Once you find out what it is, then treatment, recovery, and re-hab can be done correctly.

Yes see a dr for sure. When you do heal make sure you are doing perfect form. Go light and perfect it. You'd be amazed at the # of people whou do benches incorrectly...this will lead to rotator cuff (shoulder) injuries. Benches should not be done in a straight up and down motion. There should actually be a slight arc made back and towards your head.. It sounds awkward but ask someone to properly show this. It makes for a movement through the full range of motion.
Get checked first by the Dr and find out if it is ok to still work it. (Remember that exercise will inflame the tissue in you shoulder...thus pinching nerves and causing pain) If he oks it then use very light weights and try dumbell presses (flat, incline, decline) Pec dec. or even pushups.

good luck
