I have heard various guides suggest people to give at least 30-60 seconds rest between a set of about 8-12 reps. I have also heard other sources suggesting up to 2 minutes rest and for higher weight even up to 5 minutes rest between sets.

But other sources (which i follow) suggest that 30-60 seconds is best because higher level of growth hormone is released then.

Any tips or opinions would be helpful.

Depends on your goals....shorter rests for trying to get leaner, for mass longer rests are in order.

Rest is an individual based option but as a general guideline no more than three minutes in between sets after three minutes your muscles are as rested as there going to get without time off

When you go heavy, you'll need the additional rest minutes. However, if you can do both, you're a powerlifter.

yeah <1min is tough
about 2 is easier...
im trying to cut my time down as much as possible
perhaps just experiment and see how the length of your rest period affects the number of reps achieved on the next set. I was surprised to find no difference even when cutting my rest periods significantly.
