Hi everyone I'm new to the forums and new to the weight training scene. My question is that I have been on a constant diet of very minimum carbs since Oct last year and have now been told to re-introduce some carbs to my lunch meals in the last 3 weeks. But all of a sudden I have been feeling bloated and now I look bloated to the piont of looking about 4 months pregnant (which I'm not.)
I have only been like this now for about 2 weeks. Do you think it's the carbs or something else?

excess salt in your diet can cause water retention. but as far as bloating to the effect of 4 months pregnant sounds like you might want to get that checked out by a doc.

I have been to the Dr. and had a heap of tests done and everything checked out fine. I'm really starting to get embarassed and returning to my old ways of wearing big and baggy to hide as I have looked great with a flat stomach and now it is back to being bulgy again.

* Continuous distention of the abdomen is usually caused by fluid, tumors, enlarged organs, or fat within the abdomen.

* Intermittent distention of the abdomen may be caused by excessive formation of intestinal gas, as well as physical or functional obstruction of the intestines.

******************************************************

Intestinal bacteria produce gas from food that is poorly digested and absorbed, particularly carbohydrates and fiber. The most common carbohydrates that are poorly digested are lactose (the carbohydrate in milk), sucrose (the carbohydrate in corn syrup), and sorbitol (a low-calorie sweetener). A reasonable first approach to the problem of excessive gas is the elimination of each of these carbohydrates. **Avoidance of the offending carbohydrate should reduce the amount of flatulence and distention.**

Hope this helps.

I wish that pic was taken about 12 years out of high school.

What kind of carbs did you re introduce?? The others are right on with thier suggestions. stay away from the so called food if it comes in a box or can.

you may want to look at your food combinations. If you are eating protein or fruit at the same time as the carbs, you have a recipe for disaster because of the different digestion times. I have the same problem and I've recently started a diet that is sensitive to how I combine my food groups. I'll keep you posted on my progress.
