Hi, guys,
I have recently decided that to make the rugby team I want, I need to be fitter and stronger, but not necessarily lighter.
I am 5'8", weighing in at about 16st 8lbs (I think, and before you ask, I have no idea what those are in metric!!!). I did a lot of rowing when I was younger, and pretty much attained as much success as my frame would allow - rowers need to be tall, 6'3" and above, and lean and muscular. This means that I have a pretty good handle on exercise and it's benefits. I now play rugby in Dubai, and the other player in my position has just been selected for the Arabian Gulf national team. This has knocked my confidence a bit, as I now have to play second fiddle to him.
However, I am not going to take this lying down, so I have put myself onto an exercise program from FreeTrainers. I don't think I eat that badly, so I am not going to change my diet to start with, but if I feel I need more bulk, then higher protein levels will come in, and if I need more energy, more carbs, etc.
All I need is a crowd of people on the sidelines shouting at me to keep my end up, otherwise I will let it slip, and I don't want to, this time.
The way I see it, I only have one more shot, and I want to make it as quickly as possible.
With your help, I'll be the next Arabian Gulf Hooker, and I'll make the shirt my own.
Any further advice other than eat less, move more is most welcome!!!
Cheers,
Ed
