I've had this nagging shoulder pain since I started playing Softball again after about 2 years. Not sure if I pulled something or what. Doesn't bother me throughout the day only when I'm throwing and on shoulder days (usually on fly's and bench), which then it's sore throughout the day. Does this sound like a typical Rotator Cuff injury?
Me and the family are taking this weekend and going down to San Antonio for a few days so I'll miss our Softball game this weekend, as well as my Shoulder workout on Monday and pick it up the following week. If it's still bothering me I'll go to see a Dr. I've been hoping it's just a pulled muscle, due to lack of strength. |

Not that I've noticed...just a lot of discomfort. Wouldn't even call it pain during my workouts...however when throwing the Softball hard it is painful. I can do light throws and more of a sidearm and it doesn't bother me, just the hard/long throws from the outfield really hurt.

Sounds like classic rotator cuff injury to me...probably tendonitis. Get it checked out by a Dr. Mine flared up when I started chest presses and pec flies- classic symptom from what I'm told, still getting physio for it. Drives me nuts:angry:
There's lot's of discussion on the injury board with treatments like rest, ice etc. It's probably a good thing that you're resting it over the weekend, but you may need to give it longer than that. -------------- Even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if you just sit there. |

sstump that doesnt sounf quite like the cuff. Sound more like tendoin issues. You can try rehabing it or just time off. My knees and shoulder have been acting up since I have been going really heavy again. I have found a joint support formula helps allot.-------------- I am that which must be feared, worshipped and adored. The world is mine now and forever. No one holds command over me. No man. No god. I am ANIMAL! and that is enough. |

If you use a strictly joint supplement, try Celadrin over glucosamine. Add fish oil. Works wonderfully. I had a severe knee problem developing, and it worked. Glucosamine did nothing.

Don't know yet...still resting it and will hit my shoulder workout next monday and see how it does. Went on vacation with the family so missed my Monday shoulder workout. Did my chest workout and it was a bit sore but not as bad as usual because I didn't play softball on Sunday probably, otherwise haven't done any other strenuous activity with it.
Wife is changing jobs so in the process of changing to my insurance. I should be able to get in next week to have it looked at though if it still hurts on Monday. |

Throwing sports often cause rotator cuff injuries. You should be including some external rotation exercises regardless off injury.
If you think you've injured a rotator cuff, read The 7 Minute Rotator Cuff Solution by J. Horrigan. He's done extensive research on rotator cuff exercises and the book will help alot. Fish oil is definetly a good idea to reduce inflamation. Avoid using pain killers and other masking agents as this will just lead to further damage. The other thing to check is your throwing technique. I heard of a baseball pitcher damaging his shoulder due to a big toe problem leading to insufficient rotation and overuse of the shoulder muscules. |

well
i think it is a stretched ligament as it does not pain when you dont play softball on your vacation check out whether it pains or not either way consult a doctor after you come back from your vacation thanks ============ Quoting from sstump1: I've had this nagging shoulder pain since I started playing Softball again after about 2 years. Haven't been to the Dr yet...but haven't been playing softball till two days ago and it still hurt like hell and popped the first few times I threw. After a bit of warmup the pain subsided though.
I'm gonna schedule a checkup with my Dr in the next few weeks, just my annual thingamajiggy, so I'll talk to him then. |
