in order to lose weight i was told to jog,then sprint,walk, then jog,then sprint,then walk for 20 minutes. intervals of 7min,2min,1min,7min,2min,1min. i this a really good way to lose weight or am i just burning myself out? also should i do cardio before working out or after? i seem to be out of energy by the time im finished with one

That is called HIIT cardio...and does work. Always do your cardio after weight training or on your rest days. Otherwise, you would have depleted your glycogen stores during cardio before you even hit the weights.
