Do you think any of these would have a noticeable effect on muscle growth or recoverty time if done after your workout?

My brother used to always masage his muscles afterwords saying it stimulates the damage that you did so your muscles build more. But he makes up lots of #$%^ ya know. The club I go to has a giant hot bath but Japan is pretty famous for health superstitions too.

it has been proven that massage has nothing to do with muscle growth, it just bring blood to the surface. it can relieve muscle tension by palpitating the muscle, and sure as heck feels good . simple stretching, and if you are doing cardio, a cooldown session will help with retaining range of motion and recovery, and subsequently allow you to train better for more muscle growth

so hot bath is out too. Just summoning blood isnt helpful.

kinda off topic, but do you have to be sore the next day to gain muscle? If I work out but dont get sore the next day I feel like a wuss.

No you don't have to feel sore the next day to gain muscle. I feel the same way if I'm not sore the next day. Everyone is different. Some people get sore after any little thing they do. Some people never get sore even a day or two after they do a vigorous workout(BB1fit). I think though that if you continue to do the same workout month after month, your muscles will get used to the same workout and won't be stressed as much. It's very important to change up your workout routine often. (every 8-10 week)

I'm starting to feel like I'm going to be sore for the rest of my life. I have set routines of what muscle groups I hit each day, but every other time I switch how I hit those muscle groups, so I get sore after EVERY workout. Then I also mix in different things like Yoga and stuff which hits them entirely different again.

It could be a good indication that you should switch up your routine. For example, if you used to get very sore from the same routine and now you don't but you still put the same amount of effort into the workout, you should probably switch your routine. Every 6-8 weeks is ideal.

So how do you tell when your ready to go back to the gym? If your still growing even if your not sore it sounds hard to tell. My chest is falling behind my biceps and we cant have that now can we.
