Hi I was just wondering..

On a few topics..people talk about that you should lift weights, pushups, crunches, etc before running or treadmill..Why is this. I always thought that if you jog first, you get that extra "Jiggly" water fat off then when you lift weights, it tones it out... I guess i was wrong... Please help me, thank you

i think alot of the logic relates to energy stores. by lifting first, you are tapping into a full tank. when you do your cardio after, you finish off your glycogen stores, and then (if you do it properly) will start burning off your fat stores. i think the only exception would be for people looking to lose alot of bodyfat, as the cardio would be more targeted at shedding those extra pounds. then they would weight train to build muscle and raise metabolism SECONDARILY to the cardio.

optimally, you should separate your lifting and cardio by 6-8 hours, or even better, do each on a separate day. however, we all have time restricions, so keeping it after weights is essential.

bropie hit it right on the nose.

When weight lifting, your body needs as much energy in the form of ATP as possible in order to get the weight to move. However, since the goal of cardio is to deplete these ATP stores and burn fat as a source of fuel, doing cardio first would be counterproductive.

As for cardio getting "jiggly water fat off", you dont lose weight by sweating. At least, you dont lose fat weight.

the weight training will build lean muscle, and raise your metabolism.. this will help burn more calories during the day. the cardio after can be used to rid yourself of that pesky fat thats kickin around.

seconded. If you cant seperate them into different days, then seperate them into A.M. and P.M. If thats impossible, then do cardio after weights.

The best feeling in the world is the feeling you get after a tough set of squats after you step back from the power rack and throw up all over the floor.

just make sure you get plenty of carbohydrates immediately after your run if you do that first, so that your muscles have energy to lift.
