Hi,
I am a newbie, i've joined our local gym just recently to try to achieve an over all fitness, burn fat and get toned. I have a very bad eating habits, sometimes i tend not to eat a full or even partial meal. Usually it would only consist of 1 full meal a day and some snacking through out, giving me that temporary slim look. I've been told that starvation is not the best way to attain a healthy and fit body. So when i had actually done my consultation at my gym, the fitness instructor had informed me that i have to eat at least 3 full meals a day (healthy) and healthy snacks through out. This has been 2 weeks ago and i've noticed that i am gaining weight and my clothes are tighter. What em i doing wrong?

Hi edenuna and welcome to FT! Your fitness instructor is absolutely correct in that 3 meals plus 2-3 snacks throughout the day is healthiest. What you eat will also make a big difference. I see you've signed up for FT-Pro, so have a look and fill out the nutrition profile to determine what your caloric intake should be. Try tracking what you eat over the next couple of weeks-the nutition tracker is awesome. This will help you determinine what you're currently eating. A great resource is the "grocery list for healthy eating" which can be found in the diet and nutrition forum - "pinned" at the top. There is also an excellent thread in the same forum "diet thread" which has some excellent information.
Spend some time going thru the many posts on nutrition, use the fitbuddy search for some specific concerns and ask all the questions you want.
Again, welcome to FT and good luck with your goals!

If you are eating healthy foods, then there is nothing wrong, your body is just adjusting. When you don't take in enough calories, your body noticed the lack of fuel, and every time you eat it stores all extra calories (any it didn't need that moment) as fat. It is known as starvation mode... Once you start eating right (3 healthy meals with snacks in between), your body will change once it realizes that it is getting more than enough calories.
Don't give up and good luck!

I have that same problem. I forget to eat and maybe get in one meal a day. i also just signed up for a gym pass and had a personal trainer for a day. My question is what types of food should I be eating?

Check out the diet section... look under the grocery list... if it's not on there, probably shouldn't eat it...
