There has got to be something better than implants to get bigger calves.. mine are pathetic! I've worked with trainers to build them, but no luck. They are very strong but will NOT grow... my family is the same way.. is there anything I am missing????? Do I need implants???:angry:

calves are one of the hardest muscle groups to make grow if you are not genetically gifted. you will need to train them intensely for a loooooong time to get the results you want. im in the same situation, and have been doing some research on them. they typically respond well to higher rep training (ie i go to 15- 20), and the best exercises end up with the muscle burning out and you not being able to do anymore. so do standing calf raises and seated calf raises to hit the entire area, 3- 4 sets of 15 reps and failing after the last rep. dont expect results overnight, be patient and work them hard and your progress will show.
oh, switch it up every once and awhile. train heavier every few sessions (say to reps of 10). this will help keep your muscle growth from going stale.

yeah, if you're not genetically gifted, you need to put alot of work into em. put them at the beginning of your training session to maximize efficiency of your exercises. alot of people who put them last either skip them, dont give a full go at them, or are too tired to push them hard. i've read where it took arnold 3 years of intense calf training to get his up to par..

I really worked calves for about a year. I cycled through the FT calf program several times and added a whopping half an inch. I think there is a lot of genetics involved here. My wife loves me skinny legs and all...

A big part of it is proper training:
Try lowering the weight and going through full range of motion....pause and squeeze at top and bottom for 1-2 seconds....do 15 reps....for 3-5 sets....
many people I see ...make these mistakes with their calf training:
#1 going way too heavy....which leads to 2 and 4
#2 half inch movement is not full ROM
#3 going too light...high reps are good but appropriate weight is also a must
#4 Doing low rep sets with lots of weight...which doesn't work as well for this particular bodypart.
#5 using way too much momentum and bouncing
#6 doing same thing over and over...variety is a must...also doing some higher intensity low rep training with pause and squeeze works well also to shock the muscles...
I have noticed significant improvements in my lagging bodyparts by focusing on pause and squeeze method...and eliminating all momentum....
