Hi - I'm 24 yo, 5'11", 180. I'm looking to drop about 15 pounds through a combination of weight lifting and cardio. I go to the gym in the morning before work. I go six days a week, four of which are spent lifting for roughly 45 minutes. The other two days I do cardio for 40 min, BPM somewhere around 135-145. On my lifting days, I do 12 supersets (so 24 sets total). After every workout, I've been taking Endurox R4. I think it helps, but I don't know if I'm just telling myself that. I've begun to wonder if this is really hindering my weight loss in the long run. I don't eat before my workout. I have that immediately after, then I have a 280 cal myoplex shake two hours later. 350 cal for lunch, another shake in the afternoon, and 300-500 cal for dinner. So is the recovery drink essential to my goals?

eating before workout is essential....eating right after workout is even more essential....drink a whey shake with 2:1 simple carbss to protein ratio right after workout.....eat a whole wheat toast with peanut butter and a banana for example before a workout........

recovery shakes should taken right after workout.....that's when they are most beneficial...they are absorbed faster than a meal and a body can utilize the nutrients faster to rebuild the muscle....2 hours later it's just a meal....and not nearly as beneficial....switch the meal with the shake.....
