My name's Michael, and due to my marriage failing(because she decided to screw some loser from California), I've decided that I'm going to do what I've always wanted to do, and that's become a wrestler.
But to get to that point, to get to the point where I'd even trust myself to train, I'm going to have to lose 40-50 pounds. This site is a really great starting point, and trust me, just to show my wife what she's missing.. I'm going to use that as motivation, and I'm going to succeed.
Does anyone have any diet advice(the diet charts are great, but a little broad), or advice on an exercise that will strengthen my lower back?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Micheal,
Sorry to hear about your wife's infidelity..
There are tons of great posts in the FAQs and nutrition forum on what foods to eat, how to eat, etc.
It helps if you start by determining how many calories you take in on an average now. You can do this by writing everything down , or entering it in the food tracker here. Look at the library or used book store for a food counts book and learn the contents of the foods you eat most commonly. track your intake for a week and figure out your average, then you can shift the types of foods you eat around and gradually change your caloric intake. this will result in weight loss.
Don't wait to start training until you lose the weight - training will bring you faster results. Start a routine of basic movements, maybe on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule - do squats or leg press, push-ups, bench press, pull-ups or pull-downs. Strengthen your lower back by doing back extensions - start by lying face down on the floor and raising your upper body using your low back muscles (think kind of cobra-like) cross your hands under your face, only raise up as far as is comfortable. Don't forget to balance your low back work with some abdominal exercises.
If you are too embarrassed to go to the gym - check out the at-home program here under the exercise program tab up top.
Now - get to work and do this for yourself, not for spite, but it is good to have some fuel for the fire like "I'll show her".....
Welcome to freetrainers!

Yeah, just did my first workout today, according to the 4 week at-home plan.
My diet problem is that I eat unhealthy, but I don't eat a lot of food, period.
