I start working out tomorrow and eating healthy and I really am going to give this my all but how do I get myself to drinking water and LOTS OF IT and stopping the cokes???
Any suggestions??
Thanks!

I drank coke religiously for my entire life. Before I started getting in shape my wife and I would go through a 12 pack of cokes in a day (if we were home all day). So I know where your coming from. Without being too harsh here I have to say you need to evaluate your goals and determine what it is you want. I had to completely stop drinking it from the first day I decided to get in shape, it was hard but I did it cause I knew what I wanted to accomplish.
Some alternatives you could look at are Green Tea, and Crystal light for a while. However don't neglect water, if you do you will be setting yourself up for failure. Your body is 60% water and when you start physical activity your body needs it...badly. If you don't drink it then you'll be doing your body more harm then good by further dehydrating it. Force yourself to drink it for a few weeks, get you a one liter bottle (I use an Aquafina bottle cause it's easy to refill with the big mouth on it), and just refill it throughout the day. 4 of those is a gallon and I usually drink 4-8 depending on my activity for the day.
I've turned into a water junky in just 4 months and I can't go 30 minutes without my bottle of water. So decide what you want and what you're willing to give up to reach your goals. Once you decide that then you'll set for success.

Thanks stump! Good post!
Here is what I am going to do. I am a mom of a 6 month old son so I can not just "quit" cold turkey. I have tried before and I got a severe migrane from the withdrawel.
Today I will drink only 12 ounces. Tomorrow it will be only 10. The next day it will 8 ect til I am down to ZERO!
My fitness goals are to get into the best shape of my life especially since just giving birth 6 months ago. I just want to be healthy like I use to be but this time I want to be even BETTER!!!
Thanks,

And gradually taper, sorry. i just realized that you are trying to kick the caffiene...
I am gradually reducing the amount of caffiene in my coffee by mixing the half decaf into the regualr in gradually increasing amounts.

Yes, I quit drinking caffeine just after Christmas and was amazed at the amount of money I saved through not drinking Coke anymore. Also found that I sleep better than I used to. Just like SStump though, I now drink loads of water. I always have a pint glass full of water next to me at my desk in work and must drink about 7 or 8 pints a day, more when i am training.
When I stopped taking caffeine, I felt withdrawal symptoms. Having given up booze and cigarettes before, I recognised them instantly. I must say though, although I felt a little funny for a couple of days, after that, I was fine and have not touched a tin of coke since January. I drink the odd cup of coffee when I am out in a restaurant but that's it.
