Hi guys,
My name is Varun and iam 20 yrs old and iam glad i found this website and iam certain this time ill make a change but I have a problem that really bogs me down.I used to be very fat and now iam average - my height is 5'5,i weigh 58 kgs and i lost a couple kgs in the last few weeks due to food control and exercise, but as usual my legs and arms and face have shrunk and i look skinny and weird but my stomach and chest remain heavy if not fat and it really bothers me.If i should gain weight then i must eat but i cant afford to eat heavy foods as ill put on weight on my chest and stomach and so its a weird dilemma and iam caught in the middle.Ive been on this road since 2002 every few mths i get involved and lose kgs and eventually gain it back cuz i get demoralized but this time i really wish to change everything. Please help me, i may sound stupid but iam misguided and there really isnt a way out as every trainer in every gym has a new theory and i just keep screwing around with my body and now ive come to a place where iam just sick and tired of it.
I used to weigh 82kgs in 2002 and i brought it down very soon in 3 months to 62 and eventually after a few months i started again and brought it to 53 and i keep going up and down.I really wish to tone up now and i dont know what is the best method out there. If there is some advice that any of u health buffs can give id be very appreciative.
Thanks
P:s - ive been doing height exercises but as its said after 21 one doesnt get height, is that really true and can i work to get a few more inches.Im turning 21 next month and i really feel like the clock's ticking fast lol.

Cut and pasted from your other post.

Varun, welcome to FT. Your question is really long. You'll get quicker responses if you try to ask specific shorter ones. But here goes. First off, welcome here. You probably have grown all you'll grow. Exercises won't help much if any.

On the weight thing, you have to eat clean. See the grocery list for heathy living in the nutritional board . That will help you choose foods. Try to find the amount of calories per day you need for maintainance. Then you add or subtract 250 cals per day depending on whether you're gaining or cutting. Eat 5 or 6 smaller meals a day. That will rev up your metabolism.

Do not undereat. That's the mistake most newbs make. When you undereat and exercise your body clings to fat stores for survival. Read all the stickied posts. Use fit buddy search to find specific answers and ask questions on the board. There is a lot of help and encouragement available here.

Pick one of the FT plans that suits your goals and do it. Good luck.
