I've noticed that forearms, calves, and abs take a relatively short time to fatigue and recover rather quickly. I know abs can be trained every other day but what about calves and forearms?
Some people seem to argue that forearms don't really require any individual attention as almost all excerizes require some kind of grip strength. I'm guessing though that this is bad advice.

You're misinterpretting some information....
I don't see a need to train any one of those bodyparts more than once a week...however people effectively do abs up to 3 times a week....and twice a week for calves....depending on their goals....(keep in mind some people train a bodypart more than once a week sometimes because it's an area of weakness for them and they are trying to bring it up to par)......
I don't do any ab work and got a pretty good 6-pack from heavy deadlifting and squatting....ditto for forarms....my calves are also in pretty good shape and I barely do calves....ofcourse you and I could have drastically different goals and training regimens but that's a separate issue....point is...training these bodyparts is not as significant as some people make it out to be....if you do heavy ab even once a week...it will be plenty....combined with a good nutrition plan....
if you really want to give those areas extra attention then by all means do it...just don't go overboard....so that means max of 3 days a week of abs, 2 days a week of calves, and 1-2 days a week of forarms....but you can train just about all of these muscles by doing heavy deadlifts for example....
