Starting a routine

Hey I am new here and just wanted to throw what im doing currently out there and get advise on if what im doing is ok or how to modify it.

Currently I have been for last 2 weeks doing the tread mill 6 days a week basicly trying to get my body use to running again i started at a pathetic .5 mile but not can run a slightly les pathetic 1.5 I like doing this because for me i see real progress in how my body feels and adapts to allow me to go a bit further each time. After reading alot of post here i see that I should do wieght lifting as well which is ok cause i have alot of free time with my job. So just today i started the 8 week lose wieght program. I guess i should have said before that i am 24 5'11 and 210LB was 224 a mo. ago but have been doing cardio for last 2 weeks and dieting for last mo. I carry ALL off my wieght on my belly and chest and i do mean ALL. I have like zero fat on my legs and arms and no butt at all. I am trying to get more toned and would like to eventually put muscle on my arms and cheast but figure i should prob get my overwiegt under control first. So i guess my big question is merging the 8 week plan and my cardio which i know is talked about quite frequently here. Thanks for any Help or Advise in advance.
