Hello everyone. I am a 43 year old male who has rarely strength trained in my life. Two years ago I weighed in at 296. I am 6' tall. Thanks to Freetrainers and a committment to get healthy I now weigh 245. I have been serious in my weight training for about 8 months now. I know I am putting on some muscle. My Question is how long does it take to gain enough muscle to look like I work out. I love working out and believe I will never quit.

That is a very subjective question and undoubtedly, it is different for everyone. In due course, once you have overcome the many plateaus that plague every strength trainer, you will begin to look like you've been working out. Sounds like you've made some pretty awesome progress so my advice is to keep it up, stay motivated and you WILL invariably see results!

Kudos on the weight loss, that in itself is a feat of strength. To give a somewhat educated answer to your question I believe that for a time what people will notice is the weight loss. Typical of anyone losing weight. Once the bodyfat has been reduced substantially to allow the muscle tone to show through, thats when it will be noticed.

Its the kind of motivation you show in that post that will determine your success. Welcome to FT.
